Just today, early in the morn,
I visited my sunflower farm,
Several newly bloomed flowers welcomed me,
All were facing to the East,
Looking in the sky with yellow faces,
As some time we see in the lab of NASA,
The scientists look in consternation,
To the same direction, unmoved, with fixed eyes,
On finding some new discovery,
Or horrific danger encroaching the Earth,
In the same manner,
All sunflowers looked in the sky,
To the same direction, unmoved, with fixed eyes,
But the sun was behind the clouds.

ঠিক আজ, খুব সকাল সকাল,
আমি আমার সূর্যমুখী খামার পরিদর্শন করেছিলাম,
বেশ কিছু সদ্য প্রস্ফুটিত ফুল আমাকে স্বাগত জানিয়েছিল
সবাই পূর্বদিকে মুখ করছিল,
হলুদ মুখ নিয়ে আকাশের দিকে তাকিয়ে,
কিছু সময় আমরা নাসার ল্যাবে তাকাই
বিজ্ঞানীরা আতঙ্কিত হয়ে তাকায়,
একই দিকে, অচল, স্থির চোখে,
কিছু নতুন আবিষ্কার খুঁজে,
অথবা ভয়ঙ্কর বিপদ আক্রমণ করে পৃথিবীকে,
একই পদ্ধতিতে,
সমস্ত সূর্যমুখী তাকিয়েছিল আকাশের দিকে,
একই দিকে, অচল, স্থির চোখে,
কিন্তু সূর্য ছিল মেঘের আড়ালে।
