আমরা ছিলাম আমাদের সাত বোনের বিভীষিকার মণিপুরে,

আমরা আছি একসাথে ডাক্তার মৌমিতার আর জি করে।

আমরা ছিলাম গরীব চাষীদের সাথে পাঞ্জাবের জাতীয় রাস্তায়,

আমরা আছি বিচারের আশায় পরিযায়ী শ্রমিক হত্যার হরিয়ানায়।

আমরা ছিলাম উলঙ্গ রাবনের উত্তর প্রদেশের ভয়ঙ্কর হাথরসে,

আমরা আছি মানবতার মোড়কে আদ্বিজচণ্ডালের মৌলিক বিশ্বাসে।

আমরা ছিলাম ঝাড়খন্ডের ঝুপড়িতে ধর্ষিতা শ্যামলা কন্যাটির পাশে,

আমরা একসাথে আছি বসুধার সমস্ত নির্যাতিত মানুষের নিদারুণ দীর্ঘশ্বাসে।

আমরা ছিলাম উড়িষ্যায় জ্বলন্ত আগুনে পুড়িয়ে মারা গ্রাহাম স্টেইনের পরিবারের সাথে,

আমরা জেগে আছি সাধারণ মানুষের সঙ্গে বানভাসিদের বাঁচাতে অমাবস্যার গভীর রাতে।

আমরা ছিলাম বছরের পর বছর মহাত্মা গান্ধী নেতাজি সুভাষের স্বাধীনতা আন্দোলনে,

আমরা আছি কাঁধাকাঁধি পাশাপাশি আমাদের ভারতবর্ষের নির্মল উন্মুক্ত বিবর্তনে।

আমরা ছিলাম নবজাগরণে, আমরা ছিলাম বিধবা বিবাহে, আমরা ছিলাম সতীদাহ নিবারণে,

আমরা আছি জাতির উত্তরণে, আমরা আছি পরম সহিষ্ণুতায়, আমরা আছি সৌভ্রাতৃত্বের বন্ধনে।
